Rubber Stone poured-in-place rubber surfacing offers many benefits that traditional surfaces just cant match. Learn more below.
When the Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone products were developed, the team wanted to create a product that not only looked great and lasted, they also wanted to create a product that would be safer for surfaces, especially around pool and spa areas. Many homeowners in Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties have residential pools and many with small kids. Pool safety is a priority to use and this is why we get excited to resurface these areas.
Aside from safety, the Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone products are perfect for the Northern California climate. Read more about the benefits of these two great products below.
The proprietary mixture that creates Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone can easily withstand the dry Mediterranean climate of Napa, Sonoma, and Marin. As a matter of fact, these products were created to withstand the sub-zero temperatures and the extreme heat of New Mexico. These two products have been applied over concrete, asphalt, tile and wood over the last 30 years and still stand strong today.
Rain, snow, heat, and cold do not affect the adhesion of the Rubber Stone or Vuba surface to the underlying surface. Extreme heating and cooling does not crack the finished surface either, which is great. This is especially important for the Northern California area because daytime and nighttime temperatures can fluctuate 30 or 40 degrees on average.
One of the most marketed benefits of these two resurfacing products, especially Rubber Stone, is their slip resistant nature. Rubber Stone is made from recycled tires. The same tires we trust day in and day out, to carry our families over rain snow and ice.
Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone are great options for pool deck resurfacing, covering steps, and making ramps safer.
Alternatively, concrete becomes more dangerous when it is properly sealed. It becomes a very dangerous hazard in pool areas and areas with heavy foot traffic. We recommend against concrete in these areas for this very important reason.
As we mentioned above, Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone are impervious to changing weather conditions and climates. Concrete and asphalt has a tendency to crack over time. As water gets into these cracks and travels underneath the concrete or asphalt, surfaces will start to become uneven and crack even further, eventually needing to be replaced.
These poured-in-place surfacing options do not have this problem It is more flexible than traditional surface options which means it can expand and contract without breaking and cracking.
Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone do cost more than concrete and tile when it is first installed. The cost effective benefit comes over the lifetime of these products.
Most people with concrete surfaces do not seal them in accordance with regular maintenance. Not sealing causes water to penetrate and cause problems. Asphalt can be tricky, especially in high heat. If an asphalt driveway experiences a lot of weight concentrated in one area during a hot day, it can cause damage.
If Rubber Stone or Vuba are damaged somehow, fixing it takes just a couple minutes and is virtually invisible once repaired.
In the long-run, Rubber Stone and Vuba Stone take a lot less maintenance and less frequent as well. Concrete sealing is recommended every 3 years. Sealcoating asphalt is recommended every 3 years as well for maximum protection from the elements. On the contrary, sealing these products can happen every 4-5 years and can be done on your own.
Unlike concrete, asphalt, and tile, Rubber Stone and Vuba is usually installed within 1 to 2 days and ready to use on day 4. Installing these products requires no heavy trucks or giant work crews. This means your landscaping and yard are safe from being destroyed in the process.
These surfaces can also be applied directly over existing surfaces which means your old surface doesn't need to be demolished and hauled away. No jackhammers, and loud construction equipment to interrupt your day.
The curing time of rubber surfacing and stone surfacing is one of the biggest installation benefits. It dries much quicker than other surfacing options so you can be using your pool, driveway or patio in no time!
It is recommended that Rubber Stone be resealed every 4-5 years to see the maximum lifetime benefits from these resurfacing products. A pressure washer and roller is all you need to get the job done.
